Week in Review: 2-Day Project FTW
Boy, last week was sure one helluva hectic week!
I actually had quite a heavy project due last Thursday, considering it was a report plus we had to do a presentation. And we really only received all the formal details on it during the previous week. Almost all my friends we like blur blur one leh, myself included.
The whole lot of us didn't even realise we had a project to do! It was only until my friend contacted me on MSN messenger, did I realise how soon the project had to be done! I was like OMG, time to SMS everybody! And mind you this was on Sunday, barely 4 days from the due date. By the time we gathered everyone's contact details and timetable schedules, it was already Monday evening so it was too rush to hold a meeting.
Not to mention, one guy MIA and didn't reply email! D:
Soooooo.... We decided to hold a meeting on Tuesday night and Wednesday afternoon, to sort the shit out and get everything done. Looking back at it, it was pretty damn amazing! Like, how the hell did we squeeze out everything in the short span of 2 days??!!
Actually I already know the answer to that. Sacrifice sleep lor! By now, chionging for stuff should be like second nature to us seasoned NUS students. But it really kind of felt like my life-force was being drain. God knows how many years of my potential lifespan I might have sacrificed by the time I graduate. I literally had to drag myself to school and pump coffee to sustain last week. Having a 3 day week helps too, but ending lesson at 9pm does not.
I haven't actually done the peer evaluation and individual reflection yet. I suppose blogging first helps me to recall stuff I can put into those? Anyway, a significant part of our accomplishment has to be credited to my group-mate Swarit, and his connections. He managed to get some ideas from a friend who took it before. Though we didn't exactly copy anything, it was somewhat a time saver. Not to mention, he has quite bombastic vocabulary. That was the very first time I had to open Dictionary.com and Thesaurus.com to read a report! Though I corrected some questionable uses of certain words here and there, overall it was still quite impressive.
I hope Sharon Tan likes reading such bombastic stuff. LOL
Presentation wise.... I think it could have been better. Although I wasn't the one presenting, I think we did mediocre. Just good enough, but not amazing. There was one team with a girl that sounded like a news presenter, which I felt was pretty good. And then there was that 'boy band' group who all decided to wear formal, they did not bad too.
Q & A was like, nobody had any questions to ask our team?! So weird. Perhaps it is also due in part to the 'super Enthu' guy from Group 1 who keeps standing up to answer questions. Julian lah, not proactive in answering stuff one. (Julian is fondly labeled as our team mascot, since we don't actually have a leader) But one thing we did do, is to shoot questions to my friend's group! Although their presenters kind of asked us the day before not to do that, we were feeling a little mischievous. Hehe.
Meanwhile, GEK1531 lectures are getting from bad to worse. Lessons are always ending late, which at 9pm+ is seriously bad because it will end up eating up into my sleep time! What's more, the first 3 lectures with Chien Siang was a scam to make us don't drop the module. In the end, the other lecturer move on to a lot of heavy mathematical stuff. It's almost like discrete structures again! OMG, luckily I got background. Though I feel a little cheated. One guy even got the guts to ask him during the lecture, "what has all this got to do with cybercrime?". He asked not once, but twice! Afterwards the lecturer got a little pissed off, but you can see that he is intent on doing all the math. Standard math teacher look.
Honestly though, kind of expected from a science department module.
The rest of the modules are same as usual. IS2103 was basically learning how to use NetBeans. The actual coding of the implementation is a piece of cake. Still, it is a lot better now that we are no longer doing the notepad + DOS prompt way of programming. I hate that, debugging nightmare. IS3221 tutorial was just an intro, and teaching us how to login and such. We did form our project group, which I feel is balanced enough, and has some familiar faces. Overall, quite satisfied with the group lineup. I just wish they would reply to the email I sent out yesterday. I mean, come on! Doesn't anyone check their NUS email?
Haiz, it's that time of the year again.
You know, THAT time. The combo double blow power. Looking back at the past year, what have I accomplished? Not much, really. At the very least, I still managed to keep up this blogging habit, if that makes any difference. I wonder how many people I know, actually still read this blog. Majority of the hits I've been getting are from random Googlers from foreign countries. So much for site traffic eh?
Still, I guess I'll continue blogging. Coz that's the only thing I can do..
SCANDAL recently did a live show of their new song (Harukaze) on Animax. Seems quite nice leh. Can't wait for them to release their new single. Should be sometime soon I think. Anyway, here is the song with subtitles:
very shuai right?
I like the way the video was shot. Very professionally done. The quality also not bad. This one goes up to 720p, but the original footage without subs goes up to 1080p. Nothing like watching it in person of course. :-|
Anyway, better start working on that peer evaluation thingy. Don't even know when the actual deadline is. But better to clear it, got another assignment due on Wednesday. Such is life.
