Oh My Goddess!

What does OMG stand for? Not Oh My God, and not Oh My Goodness. It's Oh My Goddess! Although, in some releases it's called Ah My Goddess. But whatever, it is still referring to the same awesome show. It's an anime I've been watching again lately. You can check out the wiki page here and here.

Although I said I've been watching it recently, I've actually watched some of it before way back when I was a kid. This series dates back to waaaay back in the day. The original OVA I watched last time debut in 1993, and the first manga was released in 1988! That was before I was born! In fact, the manga is still ongoing! I'm currently waiting for Chapter 280 to be released.

Okok, so we know it has a long legacy. But what makes it so great? Well, how can I put it in words? It's a great blend of Comedy, Action, Adventure, Fantasy, and Romance. And yeah, I do watch it for the romance parts too. But I don't think it is possible for me to describe in words the feelings I get from watching it. You've got to watch it yourself to truly experience it. My advice is to start with the original OVA first. It's just 5 short episodes, but packed with awesomeness.

Back when I was a kid, I watched the OVA and got hooked instantly. Re-watching it now, other than the fact that the animation style is slightly dated, you can't help but wonder how they came up with such good stuff so long ago. It's mind blowing.

Perhaps one of the reasons why it appeals to me so much is because there is a side of me that is very sentimental. I like to occasionally look back to the past. In a bad way, you could say I'm constantly living in the past. In a good way, you could say that I treasure the past and not forget the little moments in life.

But perhaps that's also a reason why I don't enjoy the present as much. Or perhaps it is a sign that I am indeed growing older. Haiz... Chinese New Year just ended. Which means that my Birthday is coming right around the corner again. Gawd I feel so old! Another fruitless year it seems has passed. I am not much closer to accomplishing my life goals yet. Am I not trying hard enough?  :(

Another problem just occurred. I'm running out of OMG episodes to watch! I just re-watched the whole series of anime and OVA and movies. Once I finish up the Mini-Goddess series, I would have literally finished all of it! It's sad that they are not producing any constant anime series. I didn't read the manga last time, but even now I have finished all the 279 chapters available. And chapter 280 is taking so long!

But seriously though, go watch the OVA. I would recommend it to be on the list of "shows to watch before you die". If ever there was such a list... lol
